Haroon is a Pakistani singer, composer, musician and producer. His website states that he has sold nearly three million CDs and tapes worldwidBorn to a Pakistani father and a New Zealander mother, Haroon began playing the guitar and composing songs at the age of 13. He formed his first band, Idiosyncracies, in After graduating with a degree in Business Administration from the George Washington University in the United States in the early 1990s, he formed the band Awazwith a couple of musician friends.
Haroon and the band made a video for "Janeman", a song which Haroon had composed when he was 16. Haroon sent it to
MTV Asia, and the song became the first Urdu/Hindi pop song to air on MTV.

Zoheb Hassan, one half of iconic singing duo with sister, Nazia Hassan. Zoheb Hassan was born in Karachi on November 18, 1966Zoheb Hassan is CEO of B&H International Pvt Limited one of Pakistan's leading media & entertainment companies and Director of Hassan International, a leading Pakistani real estate group. He is also the Advisor to Governor Sindh and holds office at the prestigious Governor House in Karachi. Zoheb is presently organising Pakistan's 4th Media & Entertainment Expowhich is scheduled for June 2009.

Early careerHe and his sister Nazia, spent their childhood in Karachi as well as London. In late 70s, both siblings attended and sang at "Sang Sang Chalien" & "Kaliyon Ke Mala", famous musical shows for children hosted by the music maestro Suhail Rana. Ironically, in the early days Zoheb was not so interested in music at all. He used to shy away from TV shows. According to him when it was time to record a show he would hide behind a sofa. But his mother convined him to accompany Nazia to the children's tv show. Later he developed a keen interest in playing guitar and requested famous musician Alamgir to give him guitar lessons.In mid 70's Nazia and Zoheb's family shifted to London and both continued music but only as a hobby.
It the early part of 1980 Zoheb's father invited Indian actors,
Vinod Khanna, Zeenat Aman and Feroz Khan to a dinner while they were in London shooting the film Qurbani. Feroz Khan, who was also the producer of the film, inquired who the guitar in the corner of the dining room belonged. Zoheb promptly answered it was his. He asked Zoheb to play a number. He did so accompanied by Nazia on vocals. Feroz Khan were extremely impressed with the talent of duo and since he required a female vocalist for his film he asked Nazia if she would playback for Zeenat Aman. Luckily their parents agreed and hence a new kind of music never heard before in the sub-contintent was introduced what is now Asian Pop. Nazia's number AAp Jaisa Koi broke all records as the fatest and highest selling record of all time not only in the sub-continent but in all of Asia.
Later Zoheb debuted in 1981 with
album "Disco Deewane", a ground breaking album that was an mega hit both in over 23 countries of the world.This particular album is credited as pioneering the pop culture in sub-continent outselling international albums such as Saturday Night Fever. Indian pop singers like Lucky Ali, Alisha Chinoy and Baba Sehgal, and Pakistani pop singers like Vital Signs, all are said to be inspired by the early work of Nazia and Zoheb Hassan.
In 1982, Nazia and Zoheb released their second album "
Star/Boom Boom", once again achieving great success, Star was a bollywood movie and Zoheb rendered majors hit like 'Ooee Ooee, Dheree Dheree and Zindagi. Star was followed by yet another two hit album "Young Tarang" (1984), and "Hot Line" (1987) making Nazia & Zoheb into the most famous duo of Asia comparable to the Carpenters and Donnie & Marie Osmond. Sajjad Ali (Urdu: سجاد علی. Born 1966) is a Pakistani semi-classical, pop singer, film actor, director and producer. He was one of the pioneers of pop music and emerged to fame in the early 1980s. However, he was already known to some people[who?] as a semi-classical singer due to his work in the classical industry and his family popularity. He is one of very few Pakistani pop singers with full training in classical singiSajjad Ali was born in 1966 in Karachi in a Shia Muslim family. He was born into a cricketer family and showed visible signs of musical talents at a very young age. His father, Shafqat Hussain (Sajan), was an Indian Malayalam movie director before Sajjad was born. In 1972, when Sajjad was in his sixth year, Tasadduq Husain, his uncle, a cricketer and a music lover was overwhelmed by his musical abilities. Due to this, Husain started teaching music to Sajjad with his classical collection. During Sajjad's training, Husain played music from legendary classical artists such as Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan and Ustaad Barkat Ali Khan and Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan. As time went on Sajjad learnt and familiarized himself with the various styles of music and instruments such as ragas that allowed Sajjad to build his musical talent.

Hadiqa Kiyani


Hadiqa Kiyani (Urdu:Hindko حدیقہ کیانی) is a Pakistani Pop Singer. After working on a successful music project with Adnan Sami, Kiani released her successful debut album, Raaz. After a musical ban imposed on her from the government, Kiani successfully returned to the music scene with her second album, Roshni, which remains her best selling album to date and helped establish her icon as the country's leading female vocalist. Kiani followed up Roshni with a more mature album, Rung. In 2007, she became the first Pakistani mainstream artist to release a complete English album, Rough Cut.
Kiani is also set to be a judge on a Pakistani version of

Versace, and aspiring to start a music career, when a co-worker introduced her to producer Markus Moser, who was looking for a female singer to collaborate on some of his original dance music production.The two teamed up and started a group that was originally named "Vaiio," named after the Sony laptop Nadia was working on. They later dropped the "va" to avoid causing problems in the future with Sony. Working with Moser, she wrote the lyrics and the vocals for the songs. After the success of the 2001 hit "Rapture," the single was remixed many times by the likes of Armin Van Buuren, John Creamer & Stephane K and Deep Dish with bootleg and white label remixes emerging as well. Atif Aslam


Muhammad Atif Aslam (Urdu: عاطف اسلم, born March 12, 1983) is a Pakistani pop singer. He was born in Wazirabad and educated in Lahore and Rawalpindi. He is widely recognized in the South Asia and has given several Pakistani hit song such as Aadat, Woh Lamhe, and Meri Kahani. In addition to his success in Pakistan, he has also emerged into a successful singer in India receiving many Filmfare nominations. His Bollywood hits have been the calming songs Pehli Nazar Mein and the beautiful Bakhuda Tumhi Ho.Atif's kindergarten started in Model town Lahore at Kimberley Hall School. His first stage manifestation was in a fancy dress show at his school when he was in 1st grade, where he performed as Imran Khan 'Captain of the Pakistani Cricket Team'. Since then cricket was a passion for him. At that time he did not listen to any particular kind of songs.
At the age of 9, he moved to
Rawalpindi where he studied at Saint Paul's School. Atif came back to Lahore in 1995 where he continued his studies in Divisional Public School (DPS), Model Town, Lahore. He was selected in his school cricket team as a bowler. Atif cleared his 10th grade in 14 years of age with a distinctive edge that he has always been the youngest boy in the class because of his double promotions while he was in Kimberley Hall. During this period he was putting his best efforts into becoming a professional cricketer.He passed out of DPS after completing his school ending matriculation exams. He further continued his education from PAF College, Lahore where he completed his FSc with the class of 2001. Aamir Saleem


Aamir Saleem (Urdu: عامر سلیم) is a Pakistani singer. He has numerous hits in the early 1990s such as "Woh Taron Bhhari" & "C.B. Chali Ana". He also had a big hit later in 1993 with "Ajnabi". Apart from music Aamir is also into TV productions. He has directed many videos and road shows with famous anchor Ali Salman on MTV Pakistan with the name of Bad Company. He is also hosting a live show on PTV National and on FM 107. Aamir Saleem released his 6th Album which is still his last under tilte of "Dil Da Quater". This album mainly features Punjabi songs.

History
Aamir Saleem started singing when he was in school and he bought his first guittar after working in a hotel as a receptionist in summer holidays. He formed his first music band with the name "Image",his best friend naveed mugees was on guittar and alim arshid was on kee bord .After that he moved to Karachi in 1987. He used to sing with different bands to make money and record his first solo album that took three years to complete.
His first solo album, "Musafir" was a hit in 1991 among all age groups. His song "Woh Taron Bhari" was hit and his album sold well. It was released by Shalimar recording Company but unfortunately Aamir Saleem could not get financial benefits from his best selling album

Ali Zafar


Ali Zafar (Urdu, Punjabi: علی ظفر) also known as Prince of Pop, is a Pakistani musician, actor, painter and model probably most noted around South Asia for his music, including his hit songs like "Channo", "Rangeen", "Chal Dil Merey", "Dekha", "Masty" and "Sajania". He started his singing career with his hit song "Jugnuon se bhar le aanchal" in the film Shararat directed by Pakistani actress and director Samina Peerzada.
Zafar recently won the "Youth Icon" awarAli Zafar was born in Lahore, Pakistan to two professors who teach at Punjab University. He initially attended the C.A.A. Public School and later moved to the Beaconhouse School System from where he topped in his matric examinations. He later graduated from the
National College of Arts as an artist in 2002 with honours. Ali Zafar has often spoken about his childhood battle with obesity and this is reflected in his song 'Pant-Shirt'. He has one younger brother called Bilal Zafar who studies in England.
Before entering the Pakistani musical scene, Ali Zafar worked as a model for several commercial advertisement besides acting in television. He worked in the Pakistani television
serial Lunda-Bazar, Kanch Ke Par and in the teenage sitcom College Jeans (which was an immediate hit among youngsters). He was also in the music video of Preeto sung by Abrar-ul-Haq.d from the Lux Style Awards 2007, in Malaysia.

Ali Haider


Ali Haider (Urdu: علی حیدر) is a former Pakistani singer and actor. He has had numerous hits in the early 90s such as Poorani Jeans. He also had a big hit later in the 1990s with Chand Sa Mukhra. Besides singing, he has acted in numerous TV serials on PTV. Among the successful dramas was Chand Sa Mukhra, which used his hit song as the theme music. He also sang the theme music for the serial Chandni Raatein. He has a large fan following in Pakistan and India and with South Asian expatriates around the world. Ali Haider recently released his 15th Album "Janey Do". This album also features three previous songs with significant modifications. The all time favourite "Purani Jeans" makes a return with a hard rock format. Qarar and "Agar Pyar" from the 1993 album Sandesa are also featured.
Ali Haider will be also seen playing the small role of Himself in the Bollywood Film

Ali Azmat (Urdu: علی عظمت) is a Pakistani musician born on April 20, 1970[citation needed] in Abbottabad, Pakistan,Gained recognition as the lead vocalist of the Pakistani pop/rock band Junoon.Ali Azmat grew up in Lahore, which he blames for his unconventional attitude. Stumbling in studies at home he went to study in Australia for higher studies. He first joined the Lahore local band "Jupiters". Ali Azmat sang Dosti while his time as a Jupiters member. He later sang it as a Junoon member, where the song gained national fame and so did the band. Ali Azmat than left Junoon and shifted to Karachi to start his professional musJunoon was Pakistan biggest band famous for combing traditional poetry and instruments with rock music. Alamgir


Alamgir (Urdu: عالمگیر) is a famous Pakistani pop singer of the 1970s, who is in fact one of the pioneers of the Urdu pop music in Pakistan. He is also regarded as "Baba-e Pop", meaning the "King of Pop" in Pakistan.Alamgir was born in 1954, in what is now Bangladesh. His father Farmuzal Haq was a politician, and part of the "All India Muslim League"; a political party in British India that developed into the driving force behind the creation of Pakistan as a Muslim state on the Indian subcontinent. He studied in Mirzapur Cadet College, Mymensingh, East Pakistan. He briefly studied in PAF Shaheen School, Dhaka, East Pakistan. At the age of around 15, he moved to Karachi in search of a future in the music industry. He had brought nothing else with him but a guitar and a passion to sing.
He settled in the PECHS area of Karachi and started singing in the evenings at a small cafe called “Cafe D Khan” on Tariq Road. He would not get paid for his gig, but did get a free meal each day. The cafe was famous for its intellectual gatherings and that is where he was spotted. His remuneration was a free meal at the hotel.Someone from the audience in the hotel liked his Guitar playing and told him about the programme at the TV station called Ferozan where
Khushbakht Aliya was conducting a show for the youth. He gave his audition, Khushbakht liked his Guitar playing but she had already selected someone else. It just so happened that Sohail Rana, the music director was in the next studio and asked someone to call Alamgir to his car outside the TV station. He said, he liked his (Alamgir's) playing and asked if he would like to perform for children. This is how he entered in the formal world of Music.

Abrar-ul-Haq


Abrar-ul-Haq (Urdu/Punjabi: ابرار الحق) is a Pakistani pop, bhangra and folk Legend singer. On his first album "Billo De Ghar" his name appears as simply "Abrar". His best-known work is the song "Billo De Ghar". Before becoming a singer, he was a Geography teacher at the Aitchison College in Lahore.

He was born on July 21. aboutme.Like many other young Pakistani artists, Abrar had kept his year of birth secret from public in order to hide his age, but in a recent interview he said he was born in 1968.[citation needed] He used to give clues in TV programs saying he was quite young and not that old, and said he was born in the 1960's.He got his initial education from Gujrat and Rawalpindi. Took his Bachelor's degree from Sir Syed College (Rawalpindi) and acquired Master's degree in social sciences from Quaid-i-Azam University (Islamabad).

He joined Aitchison College’s permanent faculty in 1996. He had to quit teaching to pursue his career in pop music; although he considers the day he joined Aitchison College the proudest day of his life.

He primarily sings in Punjabi which is the main language of bhangra genre, language of most populated province of Pakistan and Abrar's native language. He sings in Urdu too. His popular single "Sanu Tere Nal" is in English and Punjabi.

Bombay Rockers


2002, the Indian singer Navtej Singh Rehal (Naf) was introduced to the Scandinavian producer-team WCA (Thomas Sardorf and Janus Barnewitz) and started out mixing a hybrid of R&B, Hip Hop and Bhangra-influenced vocals, reflecting on their varied cultural backgrounds. Naf, 27, delivers the Punjabi vocals. Thomas, also 27, performs with English vocals.
Their first collaboration, "Ari Ari", got massive national airplay in Denmark and became a favourite of left field DJs. In July 2003, Bombay Rockers went on stage with the house duo Filur at Roskilde Festival in front of roughly 20,000 people. A month later they were performing in the "Images of Asia" festival, as well as playing numerous concerts in Copenhagen and the rest of Denmark. In February 2003, they performed with the famous English DJ project Panjabi MC.
“Sexy Mama”, their follow-up, released in late 2003, was the first official single from their album
Introducing. This track again received airplay all over the country. The next hit single “Rock tha Party” became a major radio hit. Danish national radio had it on A-rotation, it was on top of the Danish Dance Chart and the Danish Single Chart. It was published on various compilations released in Denmark throughout 2004. While their third single and video for "Wild Rose" (shot in Dubai) and debut album Introducing... are being promoted in Denmark. Bombay Rockers' debut album is about to be released in more than 32 countries worldwide in 2005. In Germany "Sexy Mama" was released in mid-2005 and is getting a lot of airplay and buzz.
The Rockers are currently enjoying great success in India and Pakistan. Their album has sold more than 100,000 copies and has now gone five times platinum. It was #1 for 15 consecutive weeks on the Indian Album Charts. They were also the supporting act for the popband
Westlife at gigs in Dubai and Bahrain.
The album Crash and Burn was released in 2007. "Kushi", one of the singles, has received a lot of play time on Indian and Pakistani music channels as well as in Sri-Lanka.

Sukhbir


He was born in Jalandhar, Punjab but moved to Nairobi, Kenya at the age of one and a half. His father Raghbir Singh was a gyaniji (priest) at the local Gurudwara. There, young Sukhbir honed his singing skills practicing kirtans on the harmonium.This apprenticeship laid the groundwork for the musical side of his Bhangra career.His family spoke Punjabi at home, and his lyrical inspirations have also come from his childhood.He spent 20 years in Nairobi before returning to India.In Nairobi, he was discovered by businessman Ketan Somaiyya, who suggested Sukhbir make a living with his music. Supported by his father, he began recording in 1996.He then moved to London for a year and a half, before moving to Dubai in 1994.
Music
His first album (New Stylee) was recorded in
Dubai and had many foreign influences. Though he was nominated for many awards, at one point he was asked "Who's going to listen to this stuff in India?"The album though, was nominated for the 1996 Channel V Awards in three categories: Best Debut Album, Best Male Vocalist and Best Music Video (for "Punjabi Munde").He can sing in nine languages, and his album "Oi Triesto" has many Spanish and Portuguese vocals and music.
His second album (gal ban gayi) was a huge success. He was awarded by sony tv and golden disk award by Indian music society for this. The title song gal ban gayi was a huge hit. He received a plantinum disc for this.
His third album (hai energy) was another huge success. The album contained hit songs like Ishq tera tardpaye which is Sukhbir's most popular song and sauda khara khara. His video sauda khara khara has bollywood actors
Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu.
His other album Dil kare has hit songs like the title song dil kare, nachle soniye and girls girls girls.
Sukhbir's unique
Bhangra is a fusion of Bhangra with rap, techno and reggae. The juxtaposition of these musical styles is enhanced by Sukhbir’s use of original Bhangra instruments like the dhol and dholak. In Oi Triesto, his music was complemented by Spanish and Portuguese rhythms, while he also uses instruments like: tablas, congos, guitars and keyboards in his music.
Albums like gal ban gayi, hai energy, prince of bhangra vol 1 and dil kare have made Sukhbir very successful.
In the realm of
Indian music, he cites Jagjit Singh as a big influence and said that if he wasn't doing Bhangra he would be a ghazal singer. He also stated that Daler Mehndi and Malkit Singh were his biggest competition in the Punjabi music markHe has also collaborated with Pakistani musicians such as Shehzad Roy. He has also sung a song with a popular Indian singer Shaan. He sung the song Dil laga from Dhoom 2. He has also sung a song with Indian band Josh. When the tsunami occurred he sung a song with Jassi Sidhu, Shin, DCS and Taz, stereo nation. He is back to singing now and his new album is Tere naal nachna.
